Electricity Bills and discount

Post by sueb »

Just received our Electricity Bill for May and June.

Meter read on the 3rd July.

No discount applied. This ended on the 30th June.

Have emailed EAC and this was their response.

Also had a planned outage of electricity for 6 hours on the 1st July!
Seems unfair to lose the discount in my opinion

Good afternoon

This a Government decision ,for more information ,please refer to the Ministry of Finance.

I assume you also got a bill in September 22 for your July and August electric consumption which showed the government discount being applied.

The discount only applied from 1 September 2022.

I wonder did you email the EAC or think it was unfair then that you got a discount on the July and August 22 consumption?

To reply to your posting.

Yes we did get the subsidy on September 22 bill relating to July to Aug with the meter reading in early September.

There is a tale to tell with that saga!

May to July 2022 usage 482 kw. At a cost of 181.22 Euros
The year 2021 it was 380 kw. Read meter not estimated.

July to Sep 2022 usage 230 kw Bill was 76.52 with the Gov Subsidy of 21.39. You would have thought that this would be the biggest bill for the summer.
July to Sept 2021 537 kw
So my understanding is that we were overcharged in May/July. 22. Then corrected in July/Sept but lost out on the subsidy.

Not away from home for both years. Read meter not estimated on all readings.

We were not the only ones this happened to.

amazing how unlucky you keep believing you are...

oh hang on...

wasnt the bill for May/July 22 charged at 9% VAT and the one for July/Sept charged at 19%.. so you saved 10% VAT on any units billed in May/July 22 rather than in July/Sept...

and wasnt there a discussion on this very forum the month before your May/July 22 bill on how to submit readings to EAC to ensure they used correct readings...

does your last EAC bill look wiggy..

but.. perhaps life just keeps on treating you unfairly..
