Simou to Evretou in 5K 360!

Post by Dominic »

This is a 360 film. You can rotate the camera to point where you want. If you are watching this film and wonder why it is showing a wall or something dull, it is because you haven't rotated the camera.

The village of Evretou was abandoned after the invasion of 1974. The Turkish Cypriots living there were relocated to the North. Later, the valley was dammed, to form the Evretou Reservoir. The village now lies in ruins, save for a maintained mosque. When the reservoir is nearly full, the village is inaccessible, as the access road is under water. At the moment though, you can drive to it.

It is a popular destination with the fishing crowd. If you go here to do a spot, please, please take your rubbish home with you. There is far too much of it dumped around the place by lazy fishermen who really should know better.

To enjoy 360 films you must watch them at a high a resolution as possible. Ramp the resolution up to 5K if you can. If it looks excessively blocky it is because your resolution is set too low.

Once you are viewing the film, you can move the camera about to look at whatever you like. On a tablet, or phone, just swipe in the way you want to go. On a computer, use the mouse or the W,A,S and D keys to point the camera. If you pause the film, you can still move the camera about.

If the image you see cannot be rotated and looks weird, it is likely that your viewer doesn't support 360 film. If that is the case, try viewing the film using the Youtube Application.
