Is the EAC’s fuel adjustment factor on our bills to pay EU fines on dirty power production? Or did I get that wrong?
If it is right, I assume we must continue to pay this forever, or until cleaner power stations are built?
Do we know why the factor has risen so dramatically in recent months? Indeed, why should it fluctuate at all? Thank you.
EAC bills and fuel adjustment factor
Re: EAC bills and fuel adjustment factor
I think you are correct...the EU have massively increased the Carbon Credit Fines.....
Seems illogical to me the the EAC are fined, then they pass it on to their customers who can do nothing about it ..

Re: EAC bills and fuel adjustment factor
On the back of my bill it states:
The marginal cost of fuel has gone up by about €0.04/kWh.
So it seems to be a charge that accounts for the cost of fuel above a base of €300/ΜΤ and greenhouse emissions. The emissions part is €0.051106/kWh. This time last year it was €0.020705/kWh.Fuel Adjustment Charge: The cost of electricity generation depends on the cost of the fuel used in generation, which is adjusted on a monthly basis in the following way: The charge per kilowatt/hour (kWh) is included in the basic fuel price of €300/ΜΤ. For every 1 cent increase or reduction to the current price of fuel over the basic price of €300/ΜΤ, the price per kilowatt/hour (kWh) is raised or reduced in accordance with the current Fuel Adjustment Coefficient. The fuel adjustment charge includes the greenhouse gas emissions cost.
The marginal cost of fuel has gone up by about €0.04/kWh.
