Joining Gesy below retirement age
Joining Gesy below retirement age
Can you register with Gesy if you are below retirement age, live here permanently, have your MEU1, and are registered as a Cypus tax payer on your worldwide income?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Joining Gesy below retirement age
As a person below retirement age:
If you have the MEU1 - only if you are working and paying Social Insurance.
Otherwise you have to wait 5 years to get permanent residency to benefit - then you pay a percentage of your income via the tax system to contribute to GESY.
Ironically, as a MEU1 holder, I believe that you still have a percentage of your income deducted even though you are not entitled to GESY, but please await confirmation from other people.

Re: Joining Gesy below retirement age
At the moment to join you need an MEU3, once obtained you can join through a GP.
You will need to pay through the tax system and it currently costs 2.65% of your total global income/s.

If you are retired and in receipt of a state pension you can join GESY. I really don't need to know why you haven't got an MEU3 - your business and nobody else's!!

We have just never got around to it.. We don't think we will be thrown out..

No Trev the question was about people under retirement age and the Meu3 is required for that age group.

Re: Joining Gesy below retirement age
My Filipino carer (well below retirement age!) for whom I pay Social Insurance is in GESY, so why not anyone else that lives here legally who either has a UK pension or is working and paying social insurance?
Re: Joining Gesy below retirement age
I think you can if you're working and paying social insurance. Mentioned above in Galexinda's post.

Yes, a friend of mine who is working here and also pays social insurance, has joined Gesy.
She has to pay a percentage of her salary to Gesy.
