Not quite "Paphos News" as Pissouri comes under Limassol district.... but an interesting article I just came across on Twitter today:
With the rise of the temperature, the Pissouri Community Council is set to improve the image of Prolymnos beach, which is designated by the state as a dog beach. The works in progress in the region are intended to turn the dog beach into... a humane beach for everyone.
Pissouri each summer hosts many tourists, mainly British, and many of them remain in the village for a period of months, even beyond the summer. Ensuring easy and smooth access to the dog beach, the Community encourages the choice of those who want to visit the coast with their pet puppies. Recognizing that dog beaches are both for animals and for the people who raise them, Pissouri is making 1 step further towards establishing them as humane leisure destination.
I think that's been the issue with them all, or at least the majority of the dog designated beaches on the island. They've been allocated the shittiest spots that are not safe for anyone by all accounts.
Then they've made them so difficult to find with the usual bagshite of directions that most have avoided them like the plague. Probably just a ploy to be able to fine sensible dog owners for being in the wrong place
The Pissouri dog beach is not the safest either. It's very stony and shelves very steeply and the water gets very deep, very quickly. Hence very few people swam there, so perfect for a dog beach !!! It's not that easy to access either as there is no proper road to it.
