Empty Sky

Post by 71 Trans Am »

Anyone who previously viewed this in mid June would know that you could barely see the Island for Aircraft but what a change this year.

Tui announces date for restarting holidays

PA
Jun 21st 2020 5:30AM
Tui is to resume its holiday programme within three weeks, expressing "absolute confidence" that the Government will have relaxed travel restrictions by then.
The UK's biggest tour operator announced it will serve eight destinations across Spain and Greece from July 11.
Holidays will be available to the Greek islands of Crete, Rhodes, Kos and Corfu, as well as Tenerife and Lanzarote, two of Spain's Canary Islands, and Majorca and Ibiza in the Balearics.

Richard Sofer, Tui's commercial director, acknowledged the plan is dependent on the Government altering its position on travel advice and the two-week quarantine for international arrivals.
He said the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) would need to stop advising against all non-essential oversea travel, and "air bridges" would need to be created enabling people to travel between the UK and certain countries without needing to go into self-isolation for 14 days at either end.

Unfortunately, the skies are no longer clear like they have been over the last few weeks. We are now getting a number of overflights, reasonably acceptable, but we are dreading the full commercial flying schedules. I do not believe there is anywhere in Cyprus without some degree of overflying at fairly low altitudes, sufficient to be a nuisance.

On a slightly different subject, we have noticed that the visibility in this area has been considerably improved during the lockdown, partially due to reduced traffic and partly due to reduced air activity; the skies have been bluer
