Didn't quite understand your comment but if you were suggesting I might have to pay a charge at a bank I can say that I never had to in the past.

Last year 2019 I had trouble trying to tax my vehicle from the UK. I had to ring the Nicosia office and was given a universal code of 057. I used this and it went through straight away. This year I went through JCC as usual and filled in the code 057 and like magic this years tax disc appeared. Used my BOC debit card as usual. If anyone is having trouble try this code as they did say it was universal.

I renewed my car tax at my bank yesterday using a debit card. No problems, very easy way to do it!

I don't understand why people would want to drive to join a queue at a bank, when It's a 30 second job to do it through JCC.

I don't understand why people would want to hand their money out before they need to in March :?

What are you going to do with the €0.35 you save by waiting 2 months, risking problems if something goes pear-shaped at the bank or with the police?

Legally, the tax must be paid by 01 January. Insurers could deny any payout, so why risk it?

You are correct of course but I personally wouldnt trust the integrity of insurance companies. You would have recourse in law if you're not able to pay road tax before the 7th January but leaving payment till March may be ok with the government but not neccassarily with the insurance companies. We paid our vehicles road tax on the 7th, 12 months after we paid last year's.

Maybe, but I am seeking motor insurance at the mo & was asked "is the vehicle taxed?" which I presume to mean 'road tax'.

In the number of insurance claims which members of my family have submitted over the past 15 years, never once were we asked whether, and on what date, the car was taxed. It worries me not one jot that we will not tax our vehicles until March, as we always do.

That makes it sound as though your family are rather accident prone Lloyd :o

Anyway, the original post was about how to pay the road tax at BoC / JCC

If you were to road tax your car for 6 months only, until end of June
would you get the same period of grace as taxing at beginning of year
ie. until March?
