Re: Applying for a yellow slip

Post by Paula »

Hello ! I am Brazilian and my Italian husband with MEU1 here in Cyprus, last month I entered the MEU2 for me, and yesterday I went to fetch it because I travel end of the year, and they informed me that in Nicosia it is 6 months for me to get my Yellow Slip.

Do you know if I can travel with that proof that I am not illegal in Europe? and if it really takes 6 months or can it get there before?

Hello Paula
I'm not sure of your present location but if you are in Brazil you should apply for a tourist visa as soon as possible. Under EU law you should be able to travel to Cyprus accompanied by your husband without a visa but unfortunately it doesn't work like that as airlines will not allow you to travel without a visa.
We had to go down this route when my wife's Yellow Slip expired and we applied for an MU3 for her. She had to return to her home country to obtain additional required documents and the only way for her to return was to apply for a tourist visa.
Once she returned to Cyprus the receipt for her MU3 was proof of application and we waited nearly a year for it to be issued without any problems as far as Immigration was concerned.
Hope this helps.

Jim
