I believe the link spells out what the 1975 reféendum was about, yes or no to closer political integration and the vote was two to one in favour.
We can go into the semantics of what was written but the base line according to most reports was that a section of the population felt they had been tricked about political collaboration in 1973, hence the referendum in 1975 to decide for or against remaining which would mean closer political ties.
