A friend of mine went to a Rugby match in Scotland and for a treat he took his wife, he booked in at the Balmoral hotel in Edinburgh, so the first night, in the bar, without looking at the menu. he ordered two of your best whisky's , wait for it, it was north of six hundred quid, well this guy has a few quid, but it brought a tear even to his eye.
Could you find out the name of the whisky pls.e

My mate lives in London, I doubt if he would remember as it was a few years ago, but I will ask him next time I speak with him.

and what size of drink it was? Was it 1/4 0r 1/5 or what!
I will ask him but to be honest his a bit of a Del boy, not really a drinks connoisseur, with him if it costs top dollar then he will order it,, he will pour a blue label and put coke with it :D

Apart from music this is another favourite subject of mine. After many years I settled on Chevas Regal. Measures in Scotland are a damn site bigger than England so the old jokes about tight Scots have long gone

Back to MM's earlier question typical club prices outside tourist spots are £3.50 a pint & £3.90 in pubs

Went out for a few meals down in Cambridge and prices were up about 25% or more on last year. £9 a glass of wine (large). Paid £175 for 4 meals with only a few drinks. Only 1 starter and 2 sweets. It was a gastronomic-pub. Last year would have been about £130.
