Came on a ' cheap ' holiday in 2002 -never been to Cyprus before, was only for 1 week. Stayed at the St George.
Son was about to go to Warwick Uni, daughter was 16. Had talked about buying something, nearly did in Spain.
Looked at properties in the shop window in Coral Bay. On the 4th day in went to see 2 properties -off plan, One in Chloraka on a development. Small and had no window in the bathroom did not want a pool and complex very large.
Next apartment was in Peyia. Only just had the main structure up. The views sold it to us. Did not make an offer that day. Went the next day and said Yes.
I know did it all wrong but it worked out for us. We don't do rash things as hubby is an accountant. Got the keys June 2004, used the place to come four times a year for a holidays. Moved here in April 2008. Left to go back to UK in June 2012. The need to earn some money. I got a job with 6 months on and 6 months off. The second year was going to do the same went to visit the place where I worked up to 2008 and they wanted me back. Same deal 6 months on 6 months off. Never got to do that instead worked full time for 3 years. Came back December 2016 to live here full time. Have the option to go back and work if I want to. The jury is out on that point as yet.
Have been very lucky in the fact that every job I have had I have enjoyed.
Hubby is now 'on the pension' and I have another 8 years to wait for mine. Not as we planned but as with a lot of women we have missed out big style.
Happy to be here and did always call Cyprus home even when living in the UK.
I think that we all have our own stories to tell. Some like Jim B will be sad but with a happy ending.
All the best to one and all!
