Tonight I walked down our streach of beach from the Natura towards the campsite, came across the remnants of a party, by Young Cypriots which took place on Sunday afternoon/evening. Several Turtle protection Cages were littered around,,all crushed and broken, literally a small mountain of rubbish just dumped on the track and the beach area littered with cans and bottles, I picked up three bags full...it's a popular spot for People driving down the track and onto the beach....a simple and regular "visit" by the police would stop, this happening....but do they...off course not...the authorities, the country simply do not care...
That is absolutely heartbreaking to read, Hudswell... Are you referring to Limni beach (turtles) then back to Polis on Chrysohou Bay?

It suggests a total breakdown in the Cyprus schooling system, where older students aren't being coached on how to protect and nurture their beautiful environment and it's flora and fauna. In particular the "Leave only Footprints" countryside mandate, and NOT leave three sackfulls of litter on a beach, for a kind-hearted soul like yourself to come and collect afterwards...

The destruction of turtle nesting cages on the beach by these party-goers is deeply troubling. I'm still gathering my thoughts on this outrage and will get back.

So ALL of that 1500m long stretch of beach favoured by turtles for nesting is now at risk from human invasion... This crazy situation wouldn't be allowed at Lara Bay, would it? What is so special about the Neo Chorio municipal authority that allows them to flagrantly breach central government planning and conservation Laws in this area?

Cheers- AL :(
I used to go to that stretch of beach since 1976 long before the Anassa was built > 200 times and there was never any sight of turtles. More or less I was there alone on a stretch of 1.5 km. So when they built the Hotel later on and a lot of activities happened with plenty of sunbeds, watersport etc, I don't believe that it was for a sudden the favourite place where turtles laid there eggs...
My villa was just above this beach and after they built the Hotel it lost all its beauty for me... :( So I know what I am talking about.
When they started to built the complex they arrived not only with bulldozer on a Saturday but also with dynamite..... :x
