Poppy,
I have recently had the NHS's bowel cancer screening test done and had the same letter. Mine clearly warned that this test is not % accurate! But the NHS is cash strapped and reluctant to do colonoscopies unless this screening shows something. In fact my docter has applied for me to have one done, but so far I haven't had anything further from the hospital.
Beachcaster, there is an English Gastroenterologist, Dr Janet Buck -Stylianaki who practises in Nicosia. She is very experienced and does a lot of operations when necessary. She has done a colonoscopy for me a couple of years ago and was very clear when she told me the results. She did a major bowel operation on a friend of mine a few years ago which saved her life. If you are interested I can give you further detalis. She would be my first choice when in Cyprus.

Re: Sorry it took so long.
Thanks all for more information.
The procedure required to remove my tumour is ESD/EMR because of it`s position and is why I am being referred to St Marks hospital in London. Professor Brian Saunders has replied to assure me that they can provide this service as long as a preliminary flexible sigmoidoscopy is carried out by St Mark`s.
This evening I received the cost of this procedure if I cannot get assistance from the Cyprus ministry of health so at least I am not completely in the dark now.
Regards Alan

Poppy, Jackie - many thanks for your kind comments. My wife is now well again - thanks especially to the Cypriot cancer treatment, and also to Pasykaf who cannot be praised too highly.

Good to hear that your wife is well. I had cancer treatment at Nicosia, a truly wonderful hospital.

Re: Sorry it took so long.
Just to keep you informed, I have received a reply from the Cyprus Ministry of Health after my requesting assistance for specialist treatment back in the UK.
They have asked for documentation to proceed with a review and hopefully the S2 medical route permission. here is hoping.
Best regards..........Alan.
