Then Omodos via a clear route (Nikoklia) up and down on another day, with a nice lunch up there somewhere?

I you asked me, I would visit the famous Panagia tou Sinti Monastery after your lunch. Not far away from Nata, ca 1/2 hours drive, it is one of the places one should visit if interested in the culture of Cyprus. It was founded in the 16th century. In 1997 it received an Europa Nostra award for its restoration and conservation. https://www.cyprusisland.net/cyprus-mon ... -monastery

But then it is perhaps not what you are looking for....

There's a geocache up by that monastery. They also held a Pafos2017 event there recently.

Crikey, Max! Are you talking Kykoss Monastery here? If so, I don't think that would make a half hour drive from Nata after lunch, if we're referring to the same ancient religious site? Unless you take a tent and camping gear, for an overnight stay in the forested foothills of Troodos, LOL!

There's another (ruined) monastery further up the left side of the Xeros valley, with a nice donkey / ass ranch (with bar for refreshments) nearby. To find these, stay left when dropping down out of Nata, then follow the track north, always staying west of Xeros itself. About 8km

Tip: All year round for 4x4, summer season only for hire cars, due to deep pools and mud in winter season at various points in this track. Don't turn left or right, keep going straight ahead with the Sun behind you!

That isn't a ruined monastery. It is the monastery Max is referring to.

Thanks, Dominic. But there are definately ruins of a monestery close by to Argonaftis Donkey Sanctuary (shown on your map) nearby to the west, not shown on your map. All three well worthy of a blog, I reckon! (including your live monestery further up, which I never visited, sadly)

The "live" monastery is already covered, blogwise. Watch this space...

I have heard tell of an abandoned monastery up around there but not got around to seeing it yet. To be honest I thought it was in the next valley along. More to explore. Oh the hardships one endures...
