And as I said before RUBBISH!! Look out the window Dominic, when did they last put up a speed camera in your neck of the woods because tests had shown the need for one!

Get real this is Cyprus not utopia!

You're wrong on this Shane, just like you are on Brexit ;)

2012 1,492 Total Accidents
2013 1,273 Total Accidents
2014 1,154 Total Accidents
2015 958 Total Accidents
2016 942 Total Accidents

From: http://www.police.gov.cy/police/police. ... enDocument
No, as usual you don't understand the figures (like Brexit but nothing new there ;) )!

Do please explain why I "don't understand" these figures.

Is it simply because they blow away your argument completely?

Are you seriously suggesting that there is a direct correlation between the reduction in "Total Accidents" year on year & a "specific" one week campaign carried out in that year? Time to get back on your Brexit crusade HiC!

I think that's a "no" then, HiC. He can't explain.

And the speed cameras I was referring to were UK speed cameras. The UK government decided they had to be signposted, as it would save more lives that way, compared to hiding them away, which would generate more income.

If you or HiC want to provide a detailed breakdown of the yearly accident figures together with figures showing relevant accidents before a specific campaign started & the resulting effect thereafter, for example how many traffic light offences occurred before the one week campaign in August & how many occurred after, then I would be more than happy to provide a detailed explanation! But at the end of the day, the figures represent a drop in the ocean of what is really happening which is borne out by our daily experiences & a one week campaign every now & again is going to have little impact in curbing these activities IMHO!

Yes but that highlights the magnitude of the problem ............. think what the police could do in 8 week or 8 months for that matter! Maybe it would make the road users think more about their actions & how they interact with other road users, & not just those that they need to do for a short campaign!

Look, the fact is that police resources are a finite resource. The choice is clear, spread it thinly across the island so that it has no real noticeable effect, or concentrate resources to "blitz" a particular area for maximum effect.
