Phoenix Ambulance Again
Re: Phoenix Ambulance Again
I forgot to mention that I got an email from the Evangelismos.. Sadly they had the settings to show everyone's Email address to all the people they sent out to.. So I now have a list of all their members.

Re: Phoenix Ambulance Again
The trouble is, it shouldn't be a case of it riding on a "big test".... You should be able to have confidence in the service you're paying your subscription to! The last thing you need at the most important time of all is to be bothered by any kind of a niggling doubt.
Let's hope the first person who needs to use the service after the latest rejigs is in a position to be able to report back afterwards.....

Of course you are quite right Al. Unfortunately I have to read these things to see if my "boring" position is still warranted.
Re: Phoenix Ambulance Again
What, in your mind, would shift a Phoenix Ambulance thread from boring to interesting? I could set up a notification system so that if the word "tigers" is used in it, you get sent a PM. Would that work or do you have some other criteria?
Let's face it. Tigers make any thread more interesting.

Bottom line, I think josef, is if you find a thread becoming boring, then continue monitoring it please, until an interesting reply pops up that can be properly replied to by your goodself, eh?
Negative and empty posts like 'boring' are of no use to fellow members, m8...

Re: Phoenix Ambulance Again
I can assure you it is NOT boring to those members, myself included, who have paid good money to use the services of this Private Ambulance company !!!
In fact, it is very worrying especially if you are sick and have need to call an ambulance..

Re: Phoenix Ambulance Again
This seems to me to be a strange attitude... You don't want to be a member paying yearly subscriptions so that the ambulance service is there...Happy in Cyprus wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2017 1:36 am Even though we haven't subscribed to John's service I find this thread interesting and relevant, particularly as Phoenix appears to be the only decent ambulance service out there. And even if we don't subscribe, Phoenix's numbers are recorded on our mobile phones in case of emegency. In the event of a serious emergency we would happily pay several hundred euros for expert medical help on the way to a hospital of our choice, but we cannot currently justify €400+ a year simply for transport we have no need of.
But if you do need an ambulance in an emergency you will phone them and expect them to be there (because members have supported them) and come out of town to your Family. !!!
Whilst i do believe they would come to you, it is not a Pay As You Go service for medical emergencies..

WHL, there is absolutely nothing wrong with your point of view... It is of course what 99.9% of the population do..
But some of us who live in more remote areas, with no street name or house number would prefer to have an ambulance service that knows where we are..

of course its your right and nobody else's business on how you spend your money , but reading the posts on Private Ambulances, dosnt fill me with confidence.
Re: Phoenix Ambulance Again
Good point Trev dosnt sound fair to the other members,,, but it reminds me of the AA, broke down once and I wasnt a member, but I called them out anyway, they came fixed the car, and I joined there and thentrevnhil wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2017 8:43 amThis seems to me to be a strange attitude... Re: Phoenix Ambulance Again
WHL, the majority of Polemi inhabitants are Cypriot I would think. I am not sure what they would do but I imagine they would call the Ambulance run from the General... The problem we would have is a little bit with the language.. We speak practically no Greek Cypriot. So we would have to try to tell the driver / dispatcher where we lived...
We do not have a street name.. We do not have a number on that unnamed street. So this is our difficulty.
I doubt that the majority in our village would have the same problem..

Re: Phoenix Ambulance Again
I concur with Trevs opinion re membership or just using them as and when and I think this was the main reason that I ceased my membership because others were not joining but still had the benefits of being able to have emergency call outs albeit for a largeish one off payment. It annoyed me and I also wondered what would have happened if the non members had had call outs which meant that my call out as a member was delayed. No easy answer because I could see that Phoenix could not afford to turn away emergencies or indeed would want to as to my mind they were dedicated to saving lives.
Re: Phoenix Ambulance Again
Maybe a better commercial idea, bringing in more customers, would be, say a yearly signing on fee, of maybe 100euros, and then only pay if you call them out?.
Re: Phoenix Ambulance Again
Yes I agree WHL - good idea and I believe they would have many more joining and so would probably have more money coming in and I presume tbe charge on call out would be a reasonable amount?
Re: Phoenix Ambulance Again
It would be a matter of trying to balance the income in your mind before you committed it to paper..
A difficult thing to do of course. But the more members you got then the more likely that you would be called out..

Re: Phoenix Ambulance Again
I guess you would have to work out your running costs for staff and equipment, and work backwards from there.
Re: Phoenix Ambulance Again
But of course even when you know your membership base numbers, you don't know how many times you will get (paid for) call outs !!

Re: Phoenix Ambulance Again
No that is true Trev but if you can get 5 times more people to join then at least you should be in a similar financial state as before and I am sure lots of people would join at €100 per annum.
