It will be in the UK I think, as Pounds are mentioned. But I thought people were allowed to post UK subjects..

No, it was because I had a bad experience with Enterprise @Larnaca.

Cheshire Lad, Trev is correct, they will still block out the excess amount. If you have an acccident or damage the car, they will take the cost of this from your excess. You then go to the company that you have your excess insurance cover with, given them copies of the charges/invoices and claim it back from them. It's a bit long winded and the down side is that you still have to have the often high amount blocked from your card but when you compare the cost of the excess insurance direct from the car hire companies, it is well worth it in the long run.
