Reference the comments on cliques etc.

I have a friend who owned in Cyprus until around five years ago, told me that he'd visited the UKCA a couple of times with a view to applying for membership, however, he was met by that type of attitude and decided against returning completely. This is exactly the reason I don't join clubs locally.
In my area (in the UK) bowling clubs seem to be the worst. There seems to be a lot of inter club politics involved.

Not for me I'm afraid.

I've met many polite and decent people in and around Paphos over the last 15/16 years many of whom have become long term friends without joining a club.

We have friends who are members but manly go for the entertainment and Sunday carvery plus they don't drink. We've been club members back in uk so decided it wasn't for us, however to enjoy Sunday lunch you don't have to be a member you can pay a € or 2 extra and reliably informed many times its great. Slimming world is also held there. Hopefully they'll find new premises 🙂
