Hi
I do hope that you find somewhere suitable for your needs however I must point out that be careful living too far out with your wifes health issues and know that medical care in Cyprus is not the same as in the UK. I am not saying it is not good because generally it is but there is little aftercare or personal care if in hospital. Additionally, when I lived in Cyprus some conditions such as MS and Parkinsons to name a couple were not so prevalent in Cyprus and as such were not so widely understood as other conditions and friends I knew there with those type of health issues were often travelling back to the UK for treatment. I hope someone who has experienced these type of health conditions can assist you more. Be also aware that many places , both towns and villages are not particularly wheelchair/disabled friendly. I would strongly advise you to check out these sort of issues prior to making a permanent move.

Hi Emma,Emma Rogers wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 11:19 am Hi, Martin!
How are you? Your story inspires me very much!
Have you already chosen a place to stay? You say you have much experience in researching rental offers. I'm not looking for a place to retire yet, but I'm thinking of a long-term trip to Cyprus. So It would be great if you give a piece of advice how to find good properties, is Paphos worth staying in or what rental services you may recommend to use.
I visited Limassol a couple of years ago in summer. it was extremely hot there but I fell in love with Cyprus. I dream to live not far from the sea! What is the weather like in September?
I've sent you a private message. I've done exhaustive searches for rental properties in the past, and if I can be of any help, please get in touch.

Hi and welcome.
You will have good advice on this forum, some members have posted on this forum, and its predecessor, Cyprus Living, for many years. I would repeat always rent first, it's easy to come to Cyprus with rose tinted specs, but often the reality is very different to that which you imagine it to be. Medical care here can vary greatly, so private medical insurance may be worth considering. We lived in the hills near Kathikas, a super village, good tavernas for food and a good social atmosphere, handy for Polis or Paphos. That said, it can be very cold in winter, so central heating is a must in that area.
Good luck, you will make good friends if you care to, enjoy Cyprus, it's lovely island.

Hi Emma and sorry for the horribly slow reply! There is so much on at the moment that I don't drop in here as often as I would like, and I've only just noticed that I had notifications.Emma Rogers wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 11:19 am I'm thinking of a long-term trip to Cyprus. I'm afraid we've always been prospective buyers, not renters, and so I have very little clue as to what to recommend.
Renting certainly has its advantages, but I'm looking at being a remote worker for my employer in the UK, and that demands stability and permanent internet services. I don't want to be moving regularly at the whim of a landlord with all the likely delays and periods of disconnection that will make the bosses jittery.
Good luck in your search though. Martin
