Personally I have no rigid views on this, I just pray that non of us, are ever in his position to have to decide,
the easiest thing is to say, I would do this or I would do that,
it is not until one is put in that position, that you will really know, what you are or are not capable of doing.

It's a very difficult time for sure,my late wife suffered badly towards the end a few years ago but at no time did I think of ending her life for her, although I know of several very rational people who if it was legal would have had their wives or husbands put to sleep as it were,it's a very difficult call,at the end of the day even if they are suffering badly it's still murder,

As Cyprus is a member of the EU, I doubt that the Cypriot ban on suicide and assistance in suicide would stand the test of being challenged in the EU court of human rights. I fully agree with the German constitutional court that the right to decide to end your life is a basic human right. What churches think about the issue is irrelevant - and it should be for those who aren´t religious.
This Cypriot ban was the reason my mother chose to return to Germany when she was terminally ill. She shouldn´t have been forced to do that.
So you are trying to tell us that the ethics of this country are for nowt within the EU? I'm trying desperately to think of something that is uniquely German and that you wouldn't wish to get rid of, for any reason. The only thing I can think of, offhand, is your language. It was never designed to be spoken by European tongues    (even Switzerland and Austria have humanised it with, for example, Schwyzertüüütsch!). Seriously, though, there are aspects in all the EU countries which are not definable by Brussels and attempts to change the ethics of a people would most certainly not be looked on kindly. Yes, there is one thing in Germany that the EU has not been able to reduce and that is the country's religion with Protestantism in the North and Catholicism in the west and south.
