I’ve been on the fence about support for either of them all season to be honest, Im usually more excited about what Lando and George achieve. I probably just come down on the side of Lewis because I think Max crosses the line with some of his overtakes too often, because he’s good enough to make it look like the other guy is at fault, a bit like Senna and the whole god will protect me thing, but he’s also good enough to wait and do it again next corner / lap. I lost some respect for him after the brake test in Brazil last week which was terrible driving, same as I did when Seb sideswiped Lewis when he though he’d brake tested him behind the safety car in 2017, you don’t dick around at those speeds with no brake lights and Marshall’s and spectators that close to the action.

As for Sunday I think they need to think about having the same set of stewards at every race and I think Michael Masi, perhaps with what he feels was in the best interests of ‘racing’ did quite the opposite last night and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was moved on.

I’ve spent a fair amount of time over the years at Brands watching the madness of Formula Ford Festival racing, with sprint races, safety cars galore, last chance semi finals etc, and I’ve never seen a safety car restart like that, with initially lapped cars being told to stay out, then a select few being told to move on and then the safety car ending at the same time?

The word NETFLIX looms in my mind. Totally unprecedented and pointless because as soon as they did that there was only going to be one winner, the same as there was only going to be one winner if they didn’t do that so it must have been done for the ‘show’. The last lap was no more of race than anything before - the outcome was as inevitable as it would have been if they’d left the safety car out, just the opposite result, Lewis had no more chance of defending it than Max would have had. Neither is the pinnacle of racing.

It’s not the first screw up this season, points for a 2 lap ‘race’ behind the safety car at Spa? Crazy. To be balanced, it would have been all over if Lewis had not had his brake magic cock up at Baku when Max was already out, that’s racing though, not somebody changing the rules without consultation with 1.5 laps to go.

I get that that there will be arguments with stewards over who did what at a corner, like turn 6 on Sunday but changing the rules at the last minute????

Imagine this, England are 1 up in the final of the Euro champs, when in the last seconds an opposition shot goes in that the technology shows did not fully cross the line, but the ref in the interest of ‘entertainment’ (racing) allows the goal and tells Gareth Southgate that “it’s called football”. They’d still be picking up the pieces of Wembley now.

This is going to leave an equally bad taste for a long time. However, It’s a reset next season with totally new cars. Mercedes did a way better job than anybody last time and Red Bull / Renault got it badly wrong. They could both be at the back of the grid next year with Williams and Haas up front. That would be funny, unless you’re George Russell.

What a really sad post, we all know how Max won and it does indeed leave a bad taste, I hope your stupid post was not racist, as it seems to me, I can never imagine that Max will ever win seven Championship's, I really dislike his way of dangerous driving as many others do not like too..
