Not concerning Cyprus I know, but what I don't understand about the UK lockdown, is that we are still accepting flights from infected countries. Surely if we are in lockdown, no flights should land here. As they are doing, why are people coming here, and what happens to them when they pass through the airport ?
It seems to make lockdown a total farce.

It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.

Mind you, some tourists enjoy their holidays here ‘all inclusive’. Perhaps these holidays could be run with tourists effectively being quarantined in their hotels, no need for them to go outside when all facilities are being provided by the hotel. There should also be medical staff at these hotel's to check on those staying there.

What about the hotel staff, that go home to their families everyday and out to the wider community?Kili01 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 4:18 pm Mind you, some tourists enjoy their holidays here ‘all inclusive’. It’s people that move the virus, so opening of businesses is crucial to the economy I would imagine there will be a strict contingency plan in place.
Tourism plays a major role in the economy it will be interesting when the gates to Cyprus will be reopened for business

What do you expect from the EU? They have no say in this. It´s up to the member states to decise which measures they take.Diocletian wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 12:34 pmAccurate though. In the local press it's been sggested to get the tourist season moving that some hotels reopen to the local populace offering cut rates.
It wouldn't make sense to open the airports at the present time especially with the virus being rampant in both the UK and Russia where most of the tourists to Cyprus come from. The only real hope is a vaccine being developed sooner than later.

Agree, someone even suggested having valuable medical staff, based at the hotels, baby siting tourists, shakes head in disbelieve.
