Yes, ~91% of CY electricity is still from HC fuel sources. Wind has failed in CY with efficiencies of 12-15% (needs 25-30% to become economically viable); waste of money but the stupid wind farms look impressive. Wave is a no-no in the Med; it needs an ocean to generate sufficient wave activity and it is not yet proven for large installations. Solar thermal is a good method but only talked about here (distinct from water heating). Solar photovoltaic is the only viable method that has made a small dent in the electricity market, but a larger dent could be made for as long as China subsidises the panels. River? Where is there a perennial river in the country?
