Best place to buy a mattress

We bought our first 2 mattresses in Limassol at the top end of the road nearer to the highway end (Makedonias Ave side) where Dream Cars are/were on the corner of Makarios Ave. That was in 2004. They both came from Lebanon.

A few weeks before we were planning to have our house contents packed up ready for shipping back in 2016, we decided to purchase new mattresses because our beds are the European single size 3' 6" wide and much more expensive to buy in UK. We tried the shop we bought our last ones from but also looked at a place where we bought the mattress for the spare room - close to Curium roundabout end of Grivas Dighenis. Opposite side to the post office.

We got 2 from him at a cost of €280 (bartered down a little and including delivery) - one a medium support and the other a firm. Very happy with them but we think he said these came from Greece, not Cyprus.

Can't advise on Paphos - but I know you get out a bit, Lloyd!

I think we bought ours from Gevorest Lloyd and also bought the bed itself but be warned as did not realise until I decided to turn the mattress as we had always been advised to do in the UK that this mattress has only one side to it so can' t be turned!!

We bought an expensive (to me) new mattress just a few weeks ago. i thought we would be trailing around many stores trying different ones. But my wife wanted one from 'Bed Time' quite high up Polis road.
It is a pocket sprung one and it does not require turning over, just turning round from time to time.
I am quite happy with it.
Try the place with a sale on and see if there are any that feel right for you... and Mrs HIC

BEDTIME. we bought about 4 years ago. very comfortable. we chose top of the range about €400. Well worth it. only turns top to tail. comes in a roll and unroll . over the next couple of hours fills out to a good depth.

I too have a dodgy back but I am happy with the pocket sprung one mentioned above. I think it was an Orthopedic, and was over €500.. but for a King Size.. It is semi firm and comfortable for me..

I have a dodgy back as well and must say I have less problems since we bought a Tempur mattress a few years ago. I'm really happy with it.

Mucho thanks for the responses thus far. CG and surreyboy: it's not so much a case of wanting to know where you bought a mattress from; but rather what you think of it after you've used it for a while. Is it comfortable...and is it better or worse than others you've bought in the past? Keen to hear also from people who have a bit of a dodgy back like I do.

Consequently, we had an outrageously expensive (and heavy) mattress that we brought over with us from the UK in 2002. It is a splendid mattress!

A couple of years ago we stayed just up the road here in a friend's villa and Mrs. Cyprusgrump had the best nights sleep for years. We checked in the morning and it was a Geovorest. She decided we had to have one so we went to the shop on the Polis road the following day and bought it. It wasn't cheap and it weighs even more than our old one but she is very happy.

They did the mattress in all sorts of different firmnesses(?) and were happy for us to spend as much time as we wanted in the shop finding the perfect one.

Mind you, for reasons that I still don't understand we had to buy new bedding, curtains and bedside lamps too...

I bought mine from IKEA and it has cured the problems I was having waking up with back pain. It is a Heseng Pocket sprung medium firm (quite firm so I am glad I got the medium one). At over €900 for the super king size it wasn't cheap but there is the standard IKEA 25 year guarantee. You can also exchange it for another mattress if you are not happy up to 90 days from purchase. I am a few years in and am very happy.

I bought my bed and mattress from UK Bedlinen, then in Clorakas. The mattress is pocket sprung with a 10cm top layer of memory foam. Like others have said you only turn it from top to bottom. It is the most comfortable mattress that I have ever had and I also have a dodgy back! It wasn't cheap , but 4 years later it was well worth the money. The whole bed was made in the UK and shipped here.
Am I right in thinking that UK Bedlinen is now one and the same as Bedtime? I remember that the former moved to larger premises on the Polis Rd.

We got ours from Evzonas - it's pocket sprung and light enough that I can turn it round (and over, carefully) on my own.

I think a lot of problems arise because mattresses are the poor relation when it comes to renewal. all mattresses should be renewed every few years.
