Reference to the Salvation army was very relevant to me. Some of you may know that our small team of musicians perform on Christmas day each year at various venues. This year it will be in my village of Burbage at the Moat House Care Home & our organiser has persuaded the Salvation Army to join us. We have had one practice session & they have some very good musicians but it's work in hand

No not my 'ideal' of how it used to be, it WAS reality. What's so wrong with recalling your experiences of what Christmas meant/ means to you ?

How do you know I have good fortune and money ? How do you know how much I donate or whether or not I have a 'sizeable' amount of money to give away ? You assume too much.

Another good one , this time from Intu . Plus an extra one that shows all the work that goes into the making of these great adverts .

You have not answered my question, how do you know I have a 'sizeable' amount of money to give way ?

I did not say that I had good fortune, I said, 'those less fortunate than us'. You did assume too much.

To other posters

I'm sorry that this thread has become highjacked, it's a lovely time of year to be celebrated, not jumped upon for a petty squabble.

Everybody views Christmas differently, there is no right or wrong way.

In my eyes, it's the cheer in the shops playing carols, the Sally Army playing carols on street corners, Christmas lights brightening dark afternoons, the smell of a pine tree in the lounge, covered with baubles and lights. Then Christingle with the children, the Carol Service for all, Communion Christmas morning. Opening gifts, a Bailey's on the coffee table, then lunch for all the family, if you have one. Happy days.

However you celebrate Christmas, make it a peaceful one, that's how it should be.

Totally agree Jackie

And, at least for my family that's still the way it is, though sadly no Sally Army here.

As long as we remember the true meaning of Christmas, we are on the right path.

I am surprised no one has mentioned the John Lewis advert that I posted at the start of this thread , it is normally a talking point ?

I do not know if it is genuine , as there was rumours that this years ad was going to feature Elton John .

And also I have not seen it on tv yet ?

"She ASKED for a suggestion, I offered one. What is so wrong with that?"

Possibly that your response was so objectionable, as it so often is??
