A few days ago, we received an e-mail out of the blue from the company that built our complex, we bought off plan in 2002 &
finally got our Deeds in Feb. 2014.
The company were asking us for an IPT payment & informed us that they would be billing us twice a year for the mentioned tax.
Has this happened to anyone else?, I have replied informing them we have already called into the Land Registry...no reply as yet, am slightly puzzled by the whole thing.

If you have your Title Deeds then you are responsible for the IPT payments. Why not query this with the company? Other than that I would ignore their demands but keep all paperwork ready should the S hit the F.
I suspect the developer is trying to get Cogs123 (and probably other owners of the complex) to pay some or all of the developer's IPT plus overdue charges for the years prior to 2014 when title deeds were issued.....

Immovable Property Tax 2016 The Cyprus parliament has agreed that Immovable Property Tax for 2016 will be based on 1980 values but reduced by 75 per cent on the amount paid last year; IPT will be abolished in 2017.
Before we got our deeds, we had to pay the developer ( P ) a sum of money, can't quite remember the amount but everything was signed off...they still haven't replied to my e-mail so I have a sneaking suspicion that they are just trying it on.

Our developer tried it on every step of the way and when challenged and asked for paperwork to back up their claims, they changed their tune. Otherwise it would have been an expensive process!
You would be liable to payments of IPT to the developer prior to 2014. Most collected this each year or settled the accounts when title was transferred but your developer obviously hasn't done either. They can ask you for it and providing you receive correct receipts, can reclaim the difference in what you would have paid as a percentage of a whole development against what you now pay as an individual property -which is in some cases all of it.

You would not have got your title deeds had you not paid the developer for the IPT he had paid 'on your behalf' up to the time that you got your title deeds. Ignore him.
Don't hold your breath re the IPT refund. I've been waiting two years. I checked with the Land Registry to ensure that I am in the system. I am. Mmm ...
