'Never has so much been lost by so many to satisfy so few' - Sturgeon uses Churchill to slam Brexit

Are you saying that Scotland isn't a country?

I think you have said something that you did not mean to say! Scotland is a country within the United Kingdom. It does not comprise the whole of the United Kingdom.Rita Sherry wrote: ↑Thu Oct 11, 2018 4:51 pm
Scotland is not a "member" of the United Kingdom it is a country which comprises the whole of the United Kingdom

Thank you Devil you are absolutely correct regarding ow I should have put it.Devil wrote: ↑Thu Oct 11, 2018 5:23 pmI think you have said something that you did not mean to say! I have not denied Scotland is a country in fact I specifically say so and would not invoke the rage of my Scots relatives by saying otherwise. It is, as you are aware, one of four countries which make up the whole of the United Kingdom

I think Rita simply made a typo - I’m sure she meant Scotland was a country all along.Rita Sherry wrote: ↑Thu Oct 11, 2018 8:04 pmThank you Devil you are absolutely correct regarding ow I should have put it.Devil wrote: ↑Thu Oct 11, 2018 5:23 pmI think you have said something that you did not mean to say! In fact, although it is one of the 4 countries of the UK, the move for independence is because a very large number of Scots know that Westminster rule would always be English-centric and southern-centric at that.
Re: 'Never has so much been lost by so many to satisfy so few' - Sturgeon uses Churchill to slam Brexit
This was why I asked for clarification. I read it that you were proposing that there is only one country, the UK, and that Scotland and England aren't countries.
You can see why I would ask you to clarify that!

Only one problem HiC, the final sentence doesn't come from the government!

What did you say to me in a previous post, "smoke and mirrors" springs to mind? Keep living the dream HiC, it keeps us amused!

Oh, and all I did was point out an inaccuracy in your post so why am I a "denier"?

I would suggest the epithet “denier” was appropriate for the side which LOST the largest democratic vote ever undertaken, and then to demonstrate their petulant childishness, have thrown a two year hissy fit. [another historic first].
Had these snowflakes got out of bed, off their i-pads, and decided which sex they would self identify with that day, they might have just made it to a polling station, when the peoples vote in June 2016 was held.
The boat’s sailed. Get over it.

So, did Democracy die with the vote? Was it a one vote decides all? Rain, hail or shine? No second chances, no afterthoughts, no amendments to ensure least impact on peoples’ lives? Poppycock.... the very ones who should ‘democracy decided’ from the rooftops would deny democracy having any voice in the present or future on this issue. As to Kingfisher’s snowflake remark.... typical....
Re: 'Never has so much been lost by so many to satisfy so few' - Sturgeon uses Churchill to slam Brexit
Quite right and at the end of the day Jimgward how many vote "chances" would satisfy your poppycock interpretation of "democracy"?

Polls suggest the majority dont want hard brexit or a brexit that leaves them exposed. It’s nto a case of votes until the result changes, but the fact lies were told, illegal money used, Russian influence and cyber attacks on the polling almost certain, plus an electorate not properly informed, then I think a vote on the deal would be beneficial for all.Hudswell wrote: ↑Sat Oct 13, 2018 8:33 pm No Jim Democracy was proven by the vote when the majority of those that voted voted to leave the EU. Is it then democratic to demand more votes until the vote you want is achieved? How many votes would you actually advocate, because if we voted to stay..why should those who voted to leave not deserve another Vote? And yes Kingdisher is correct, if more of those that wanted to remain in the EU had actually voted then perhaps the vote would have gone their way. Rather than blame their own apathy, they would rather blame the "older generation" for taking away their future, the same Generation that gave them their oppourtunities in the first place.
I am happy to leave, IF a deal preserves trade, doesn't jeopardise jobs and doesnt affect my movement. The vote should never have been a Yes/No with no details. It was far too important. Did everyone realise that? I dont think so.

Polls overwhelming said May would win a huge majority but hey-ho there goes the accuracy of polling for you! You say you are happy to leave but with conditions, most of which give us the same conditions that we already have so why should we leave? And at the end of the day, I think most of the electorate realised the importance of the vote, if you don't then you are classing them as stupid!

This is what the UK has come to; the shame of it. My close friend was punched in the face in Farnborough and told to get back to Poland, she's Russian married to my friend who is English. The police wouldn't press charges until my friend threatened them with legal action
Brexit has certainly opened Pandoras box; to think my dad fought against against people like that and we now have our own home grown ones. Brexit supporters have some obnoxious bedfellows.

Re: 'Never has so much been lost by so many to satisfy so few' - Sturgeon uses Churchill to slam Brexit
It isn’t a British disease and is worse in most countries, especially Eastern Europe, but it has grown since brexit in Britain, as Brexit has let some bigots come out of the woodwork with a cover story.
Re: 'Never has so much been lost by so many to satisfy so few' - Sturgeon uses Churchill to slam Brexit
Wrong. Loom at the statistics of race and crime against foreign nationals post brexit. There was an excellent film documentary also around that time, showing bigots.
There are a lot of racists under the surface and brexit lets that surface with less condemnation and 'understanding' by other bigots.

Hate Crimes Soared by 41% after Brexit ....
All official figures....
So, the new victim, happened to be 41% increased as a total coincidence....
As usual, Hudswell, you simply disagree with all my posts, even though I can verify most of them....

Whether it's 1% or 41% is beside the point; its happening.
It happened in Germany in the thirties when many decent people were involved with the Facists, not realising what they were getting into.
As I said in another post, I would often spend evenings with my work colleagues in the hotel bar and the conversation would turn to Brexit. The general consensus of the Leavers is that it was all about immigration and getting rid of all the foriegners. Now you may go on about finance and customs and laws but these guys weren't interested in any of that; all they are interested in is getting rid of all foreigners and that means those from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh etc. as. well.
These are educated people, some with degrees; so it's not just a small minority of racists as you suggest.

Most expats here that i've spoken to,wanted Brexit because of the amount of foreigners in the UK.... lets hope Cyprus doesn't have a Brexit vote, because the same expats that don't want foreigners in the UK, might just be on the end of Cypriots wanting them out of Cyprus... the Irony
