Defendant denies premeditated murder in Peyia hit and run

A 35-year-old man pleaded not guilty to premeditated murder on Wednesday in the death of a British tourist who had been hit by a car in Peyia in June, in what authorities believe was a deliberate assault following an altercation....

Well he would wouldn't he. If he is found guilty then it's mandatory life imprisonment, so he may as well plead not guilty.

It did until recently, when they introduced a parole system. Assuming someone didn't get parole, then they would indeed be in for life. There was a chap recently who got parole after serving 31 years for murder.
