Let's hope they can, Mike - otherwise it's going to be a massive blow to this amazing news....
Fingers crossed for a safe exit for them all. It's been quite a miracle to find them all at this stage!

One of their main regrets will be to have missed many exciting World Cup matches

I am glad they made it - Sky News reports that it was the British Cave Rescue Council that found them - well done!!!!

The water will take 4 months to recede to pre-monsoon levels apparently - it is either getting food in for 4 months and stay put or learn to dive
Not a good place to be! Hope they will have a similar successful outcome as the one Vicky mentioned.

What is amazing is the amount of resources that the Thai authorities have consecrated to the rescue. I'm damn sure that many countries would have given up after a couple of days (if that!). Well done, those Thais!

Thanks for finding and sharing the Norwegian cave rescue link, Jim. Absolutely mind-boggling stuff...

Meanwhile, my thoughts are with these 12 kids and their older coach trapped in a water-laden cave deep under Thailand for what might be 4 months more... They might have 4 months of food supplies being sent down to them by the International rescue teams, but WHO is going to give them diving lessons, I wonder?

And what about dry warm bedding and clothes? AL :?
Gone but not forgotten...

Rescue actions begun this morning with the aim to get the boys out, one by one, with 2 rescue divers for each boy. The 6 hour journey, partly under water will be very tricky as the water is muddy and some passages underwater are only 60 cm wide with a strong current. The first boy supposed to be in safety at 4 PM our time, so fingers crossed everything goes well. One rescue diver already died 2 days ago when he run out of oxygen returning the 6 hour trip, to lay a oxygen pipe to the boys.
Here a video where one can see how it looks inside the caves....

It still puzzles me that young boys, inexperienced in caving, were taken on a 6 hr journey into a cave system ?

From the entrance of the cave until the place they were found is 4 km. Without water one could do that trail in about one hour....

Rubbish! Do you think there is a nice smooth pavement? It is very rough terrain with many places where you would have to wriggle through gaps in rocks. Even speleologists class the cave (dry) as 'difficult' with some places where backpacks have to be dragged after their owner.

I think you will find that, once they are hopefully all out, the coach is in a heap of trouble.
