I stayed at the Premier Inn last year. Off airport by a mile or so but they have a shuttle bus to Terminal 5. I didn't use the shuttle as I had a meet and greet car arrangement at Terminal 5, so I can't comment on it... There's plenty of info on the net...

The Thistle Hotel very close to T5 has access to the ‘Pod’. You buy a ticket from the hotel reception, and at the appropriate time you exit the hotel from a back door in reception and can actually walk to the Pod station which is at the side of a car park there. Entering a code at the automatic doorway as you arrive, opens the door. Inside is a Pod which you enter with simple controls. The pod leaves, runs on its own track at a good speed and about 5 mins later it arrives at terminal 5! There are lifts near by which take you straight to departures. I stayed at the Thistle which is quite adiquate abd reasonably priced before last Christmas when I had an early flight. This unusual transport system worked v efficiently and got me to T5 effortlessly,

We always stay at The Premier Inn, T5 , there is a McDonalds opposite it that's your fancy or The White Horse pub in Longford a 10 minute stroll though they will pick you up and drop you back to any Heathrow hotel in their own mini bus for free ( great if it's raining).
Premier Inn like most Heathrow hotels have their own "tame" taxi company who price the run at two people paying to take the Hoppa bus service. They will pick you up at T5 too. Most of the cars are " executive" ones and indeed last time we floated to T5 in an huge Mercedes like Lord and Lady Muck. Felt a shame to then check in at economy !!
