ex Spanish Air Force guy named Jess, who really knew his stuff on TVs and Videos. Used to drive around Paphos in a beautiful little MG Midget, in British Racing Green, and frequented the Zorros pub regularly in the evenings.

Zorros, by all accounts, seems to have gone. But I bet Jess is still around, fixing things. Does anyone have any input on this suggestion, please?

Happy in Cyprus wrote: Thu Apr 19, 2018 1:32 am Last I heard (a year or two back) was that Jez had gone too. With the reliability of TVs these days it must be hard to make a living repairing them.
His main speciality was helping recently relocated peeps from UK to Cy to convert their imported s/h TV and VCR kit to work on the Cyprus system (PAL to NTSC?).

Nice work, if you can get it, at CY£20 a shot. The conversion device was a 10 cent 47 k/ohm resistor, apparently. But of course, the secret was knowing where to solder this into the unit...
