Is your pool ready for a swim? (pic)

Post by cyprusmax47 »

If you expected a photo from a dirty pool after all this dust you are wrong. I did already the hoovering in "waste" position of the filter, pumping the dusty stuff out of the system and one of my friends is already waiting to go for a swim......

Same reason that a German friend of mine installed a pool heating system last week and could enjoy the water NOW, with temperature of 24c first time at Easter. He waited 10 years until he realized that it makes no sense to have a pool when this time of the year the water is only ca 15c...., and he only comes to Cyprus at Easter time and in October.

I had a very quick swim yesterday. It lasted as long as it took me to get out of the pool once I had dived in.

I went in again a few minutes later, thinking I would be used to it. I wasn't.

Well, if you like 18c that's fine. Not for me. The only time I would swim is when the water temperature is > 27c..... :) and outside it is 35c

Both Rosemary and Rachel have been in ours this week.Warmest we can remember at Easter for some years. Plus they both stayed in for at least half an hour.

Trev, as we are only swallows, and not Cypriot residents, like you, we go off UK holidays and our daughter Rach is on her Easter Holiday break and returns to work in Wales on Monday, which will be Easter Monday here.
Often we have our gas fire on at this time of year but have not needed it this year. Last year I was walking with a vest, tshirt and jumper but have just a tshirt on.

Perhaps Dominic could have a separate section for people who are not full time residents to post ;)

I think everyone is welcome to post on all sections of the forum. It is strange that Easter is indeed at different times. The event that it commemorates just happened at the one moment in time, so it is strange that Easter is on different dates

Swam 20 lengths in the pool this afternoon. If you were in Polemi and heard anybody yell in a high pitched voice girl-like voice "oh God my nipples hurt" I am afraid that was me.

In Western Europe, Easter Sunday is always on the first Sunday, after the first full moon after the first day of spring. Just googled how the date for the Orthodox Easter is worked out.

Sorry Trev, I was not getting at you or this forum. Just getting a bit fed up of residents, many who have been here a shorter time than us, making comments such as, of course, you don't live here, or Oh you're back on holiday.
Plus, we have just come back from Lidl and witnessed some pretty rude behaviour from a posh English lady, who, instead of saying excuse me both to us and a Cypriot gentleman, said beep beep quite loudly. After she had passed, I said to Rosemary, "What a rude lady" and the Cypriot said, "I agree"

She was hardly posh then. Probably just an old drunk.

I don't care where people are from, how long they reside in Paphos, how long they have lived here, if at all, whether they intend living here in the future or when they celebrate Easter. Everybody is welcome as long as they are nice to each other, don't spam, and don't irritate me too much.

Some people seem to great stall in the fact that they have been here 13 3/4 years* or whatever. If you've spent most of that time in a bar, it accounts for nothing.** If you have lived here one day, one month, one year, or one decade, good for you. It is not however, a contest.

Um, that's about it. There are still a few days to go on the Easter Egg competition. Thought I would mention that.

Go here to play that: https://www.paphoslife.com./easteregg

WIn a €50 curry from Delhi Gate!

And have fun and be nice to each other. There really is no need to argue all the time. :)

* this is an arbitrary date, that isn't supposed to refer to any particular person, so don't get offended if you think I am talking about you.
** this does not apply to people who own or run a bar.

Pool 23C with aid of solar cover, been swimming in it for past two weeks (apart from the really dusty days). Mind I did learn to swim in the North Sea!
