Building in Universal.

Post by William Morris »

Have noticed a lot of building work going on in Universal.

One developer has bought up a lot of corner plots on which to build luxury houses.

I always thought that a percentage of land had to be kept empty in order to assist with rain run off and to avoid flooding.

it is because it is flat here. the rain runs in torrents down the streets because of all the concrete, car parks, etc.

my understanding is that 20% has to be left barren.

Common sense would suggest that if these 'vacant' corner plots in Universal from ten or more years ago served a municipal purpose, then that is the way they should be now, after development?

To come round and start filling these plots in now stinks of corruption (Developers and Town Hall) maybe?

They're just residential building plots like any other. A couple happen to be on corners. Nothing sinister going on!

No. There wouldn't be odd TC owned plots. They would be in a community of plots. As far as I am aware, the nearest TC owned land is outside Universal towards Fabrica Hill. There is still a TC graveyard there.

Yes that may be the one near Paphos Cemetary, next to Pafia Gardens - it's an enormous piece of land. There are quite a few large Turkish Cypriot plots in Moutallos above the Tombs of the Kings area.
