Nice one, Lincoln! What sort of light bulbs are you running throughout your house, interior and external, just out of interest?

Yeah! I'm saving more than €200/month in winter. I scrapped the storage heating and replaced it by gas central heating. I should have done it years ago if only for carbon emissions which I estimate are now halved!

This is ever so funny! Or mysterious ?

Electricity price hikes, highest in the EU.... read the article in CMail http://cyprus-mail.com/2017/11/29/elect ... ighest-eu/

It certainly is very strange, having a bill so low when living there full time. The standing charges must be around half that amount ..

I know! Lincoln wraps up well, makes a cuppa or two and goes and lives on his balcony! A great way to save electricity. :D

Sorry to hijack this thread, but Lincoln mentions a Halogen Oven. Could somebody enlighten me as to what that is, please? And if it is a good thing to get? We only have one single oven in our rental, and I find I could do with another cooking source.

And I'm wondering if Lincoln's previous EAIC bills were estimates (on the high side), leaving his account with a healthy credit, now redressed back to normal after they took a proper meter reading?

Well they obviously still run a router and a computer! Personally I would rather cut back on fags or booze than worry too much about a leccy bill. And no I am not saying that Lincoln is worrying.

Lincoln wrote: Sat Dec 16, 2017 4:58 pm For those who asked. We are on tariff 01 and we have not had estimates always the meter is read. Friends of ours in another two bed apt have had a similar bill. I suppose it is all down to each of us life styles.

Thank you, pleased it is apparently NOT a windup.
Now as I understand it tariff 01 replaces tariff 05 which we were on (from the last bill), so I guess we will have a bill next time (due in January) on that new tariff.
I hope it is as cheap as yours!
Our last bill was for 480 units.
How many units was your €48 bill for Lincoln.
Or is it a secret? I asked you on here and also by PM - no reply, which is why I wondered if the whole thing was a windup.
Waiting, hopefully, for a definitive reply.
Not holding my breath.

Thing is, if you use a gas fire you may use at least 1 bottle per week, per fire. Current prices are around €12 per bottle so over a month you may spend at least €50 on gas, plus all the hassle of lugging it about. Also the gas price strangely rises as the weather gets colder and gas creates even more condensation and doesn't really do a good job of warming up damp air.
We save money by using the reverse aircon.
