Cyprus Off Peak
Cyprus Off Peak
What happens to all the restaurants etc when Cyprus is off peak? I'm guessing from what I have read that in January a lot of them shut. But how much is a lot? If somebody visited in February, would there still be places to eat?

Most, if not all, restaurants will re-open as from Valentine's day (14.02.) but there are always some restaurants and taverna's open.

There are always plenty of places open especially around the harbour seafront area, as Louise said most that close are back open for Valentines, we were in two restaurants in coral bay last week, one was shutting in the next week or two and the other was staying open right through.

I started off with nothing and have most of it left !

Paphos, Limassol and Nicosia have restaurants open all year round as they have a lot of permanent residents. Ayia Napa pretty much closes down over the winter. It always used to have the only McDonalds in the world that closed out of season!

Yes, Agia Napa and Protaras virtually close up in the winter. I remember visiting Agia Napa at Christmas one year. We found one kafenaio and one restaurant which seemed to be open.
A lot of the popular restaurants in the Paphos area take their annual holidays some time between New Years Eve and the middle to end of February. You need to check with the individual restaurant. In the villages, Petradaki in Kathikas usually are closed in Jan/February, as is Vatoutkia near Tala.
It's the time owners and staff take a well earned holiday as they are so busy and work long hours during the long summer season. Also the time when they can refurbish and reorganise their establishments.

Lots of places open in and around Paphos, though you will find some places that are only open say Friday to Sunday, especially out in the villages.
