What's the weather like with you in the UK today

Got something to share that isn't strictly related to Cyprus? Post it here.

What's the weather like with you in the UK today

Post by Firefly »

Hi to all in the UK, just wondering what the weather is like where you are. This morning in Herefordshire the sky was a horrible grey yellow colour, so bad you needed the lights on in the house, which has now cleared, the wind is getting up, and the sun is trying it's best to shine. I have removed objects in the garden which could blow over, and hoping that it won't be as bad as forecast for later today. :?

Very gloomy here Jackie but very mild too - hopefully we in the East will escape the worst! No wind yet but scattered showers. It changes so quickly here after the lovely day yesterday when we took the picture of the squirrel.

Orange - is the word of the day.....
Our conservatory early this morning went from daylight to an orange glow then extremely dark, all in the space of about 15 minutes. For the next hour it went between dark and orange.
We went out at about 10:30 to a couple of garden centres and we got back about half an hour ago.... and as we were leaving the last garden centre, the sun was gloriously reddish orange with cloud scudding across it. Very reminiscent of our old Cyprus dust storms!

Now, the sky has cleared and the sun is shining brightly and currently at 20C - but the wind is starting to pick up a bit and it's predicted to get a bit wild later this afternoon.

The Knott End Ferry posted an update on their facebook page earlier today that their last sailing will be at 14:15hrs as the storm boards will be put across the entrance to the ferry jetty in anticipation of the high winds and possible high waves as storm Ophelia passes through.

Ireland appears to have suffered very badly with loss of power in thousands of homes and one lady has been killed after a tree fell onto her car....

Oops - just looked out of the window and dense fog now! Won't be going out in that!

Jules, sad news from Ireland.

Poppy, I did go to our local garden centre a couple of hours ago, when it wasn't too bad, but now back home, having locked the gates and closed the windows.

3.45 pm, very windy now, luckily our house is in a small close, so we are (hopefully) protected somewhat, but on the main Hereford to Worcester Road, small branches being blown off the trees already.

Have just heard on the weather forecast that the strange yellow tinge in the sky that both Jackie and Jules experienced was apparently due to the raging fires in Spain and Portugal! Now who would have thought that?
