Post by marcusandabi »

Hi does anyone have any recommendations and experiences with window film companies?

Looking to get it out on our big Windows!

Thanks

There is someone from the Polis area who advertises in the free papers/mags.

We had it done and we were very happy.

Different films are available.

Try Costas at Zonari, he did our shop windows some years ago.

Sorry I no longer have details please check Paphos Post, Cyprus Living (magazine), Grapevine.

My wife thinks his name Ian.

Its really a company, its one person who has done this work for years.

This is DIY if you choose! My brother-in-law Steve and I applied shedloads of this stuff on huge windows in a College in Basrah, Iraq, (south facing sunny windows, Computer Room).

Good job we took some extra, as the Headmaster (dressed in army camoflauge uniform, moustache, and a Saddam Hussein look-alike) wanted his office done the same, which we did..

We didn't have the heart to tell him that his office faced North, so he didn't actually need it, LMAO!

All you need is a flat clean decorating bench, sharp knife, bucket of warm soapy water, and a squeegie, to work the air bubbles out! Clean the glass surface scrupulously first, though!

Cheers- AL :)

Keep the heat out.

Zonaris would be my first point of call as also mentioned above already.

Yes, it basically makes the windows tinted in the inside during daylight hours, and you can see out. But nobody can see in, it's like a mirror to them...

But at night time, it all becomes a bit different, LOL! You can't see out, whereas they can see in...

Strange, but true! Cheers- AL :)

I sold a type of window film 2009 to Butcher Boy for all his huge windows. Installer was a company from Limassol I was working for, which unfortunately went bust 2011. But the material was excellent (and expensive) and made a big difference in the shop as beside reducing the temperature it was also stopping that things were fading.

Can you clean the windows exactly the same way as you would on windows without the film?

Does it degrade over time?

Kansas

Yes cleaning the same way as usual. For top quality film there was a 15 year warranty.
