I feel so sorry for the people who's lives are affected by this problem, it seems no matter where you live in Paphos this is a big problem. Since moving to Paphos 2 years ago we have noticed barking dogs are a huge problem. We live in Chloraka and we have barking dogs all around us, there just is no where you can get away from it. If it's not hunting dogs barking for hours on end, it's the little dogs that just wander around the streets usually barking at anyone who goes past them. And it's not just the Cypriots to blame it's all nationalities. I can vouch for this just by the people who live in our street, a lot of these owners are totally oblivious to the effect this has on other people living in the vicinity. The dogs are not the problem, it's the selfish owners, you can normally judge a person by the way they treat their animals.
If you can no longer find peace and quietness in your own home because of these selfish people what do you do, move, well that's not always an option for some and why should they be forced to move because the powers that be will just not punish these people, or when they are fined it's such a derisory amount they probably don't even pay the fine. It's about time the book was thrown at these selfish people. Stop paying lip service to the problem and come down hard of the perpetrators.
We are lucky we don't own our property and just rent so we can move if we wish, we have noticed in the 2 years since living in Chloraka there has been a decline in the area were we live and this has a lot to do with dog noise.
What are people to do that bought their dream property years ago either for a holiday home or a planned retirement to have all of there plans destroyed because the powers that be will not sort this problem once and for all.
