Bad weather and snow storms in UK....

Post by PhotoLady »

That's mostly all down the East coast....

Here in the north west along the Fylde coast, we've been battered by north westerly winds of around 55kmph for just over 24hrs. We had a couple of heavy hail storms at around 9pm last night and the wind continued throughout the evening....

But today, it's been very bright with sun and clouds however, still a lot of gusty winds.

As you can see, the flood barriers are in place here at the Knott End jetty on the River Wyre and they're also in situ along The Esplanade (the seafront) but the levels are nowhere near the top, even with the wind behind them. However, the ferry sailings were cancelled today.

A few blustery photos to share:

I woke up to a good layer of snow on the ground this morning. Complete surprise, but it had melted off roads by early afternoon which was nice and sunny, although only +2C

Today was a really nice day here - although it's still cool, there was only a small breeze.

After returning from shopping in Cleveleys, we did a quick unpack and headed up to the jetty with Ruby for her walk as the tide was very high when we came across the Shard Bridge over the River Wyre on the drive back. However, the flood barriers had been removed and we saw there were fishermen with their lines set out on the jetty - so nowhere near as rough a day as yesterday and very sunny 8-)

Our solar lit tree is shining like a good 'in outside our front porch as I type :-) It's currently 6 degrees Celsius and dark, of course but I believe we will get rain overnight and possibly tomorrow....
