It will probably be cancelled next year for being racist by some English councils, they will not fly the English flag. Thankfully, change is afoot starting on the 1st of May.

The only St George's Day events I can ever remember were as a child. I seem to recall that the cubs and scouts had the option for turning out at the local Church in full dress. I only know when the day occurs because it the also the dob of our eldest son. I don't know when St Andrew's Day or St David's Day is. I know Paddys Day is in March, but that was only ever an excuse for a big pissup.

I'm not saying I am happy with the state of the UK now, but I'm not getting misty eyed over the decline of celebrations that I can't recall ever existing in the first place.

No Dominic, that's one problem with the English, a lot of us seem reluctant to call themselves English. The Scots, Welsh, Irish all call themselves that, but the English, sadly British.

Time for a change I think.

Of course , this year, it is not St George's Day till Monday. Something to do with the timing of Easter, but if you are not celebrating it doesn't matter.

Saint George's Day is usually celebrated on 23 April, the traditionally accepted date of the saint's death in the Diocletianic Persecution. However Saint's days are not observed if they fall between Palm Sunday and the second Sunday of Easter, they will then be celebrated the following Monday.

Nothing wrong with flying the flag. We should do it more.

Nothing stopping you flying the flag everyday of the week and twice on Sundays, let us respect others who don't have the need to fly the flag, they proberbly love the UK just as much as the tommy robinson pseudo patriots .
