Most people know that Vitamin D is very important and that after a long period without sunshine on your skin the level in your body will be too low to be healthy.
So these days in March (in Cyprus) are ideal as already 10 AM the sun is high enough to produce plenty vitamin D while this time a day UV level is still moderate between 3 and 5.
Higher figures (6-13) without sun protection are known to be unhealthy for your skin (cancer), however if you apply sun cream the body will not produce vitamin D.
So for example this week between 10 AM and 2 PM the sun produces plenty vitamin D when your body is exposed to sun, while the UV levels are still moderate.

My husband was prescribed a high dose of Vitamin D 3 years ago. It had an effect on his kidneys- no problems before hand. He was at the stage of kidney failure.
Has taken him the 2 years since to get back to being ok on his kidneys. Just a warning to people.
Now takes 1 tablet every 3 weeks.

Happy to be back on the Island!

Yes, same here. The doctor prescribed one tablet per day in the morning. No alcohol, no sugar and minimal salt. Cannot complain really as Baron Rothschild, of the famous red wine producers, is allergic to alcohol, so I have drunk his share.

There are plenty of studies, showing that our body is clever enough to avoid too high levels of Vitamin D through sun exposure, unlike supplementation when the dose is more than 4000 IU/day which can produce problems in the long run....

You can always have your blood levels tested. It´s not that expensive. Last month I paid €17. That was in Germany though.cyprusmax47 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 12, 2025 10:56 am There are plenty of studies, showing that our body is clever enough to avoid too high levels of Vitamin D through sun exposure, unlike supplementation when the dose is more than 4000 IU/day which can produce problems in the long run....
