Currency exchange

Post by graham43 »

I’ve been using CurrencyFair to exchange and transfer money to our bank in Cyprus for many years and found them to be reliable and generally competitive. CurrencyFair has now gone into partnership with a company called Moorwand . There’s not a lot of information around about this company which may convince me to find an alternative to CurrencyFair. I would be grateful to hear of other people’s experience with money transfer companies and any recommendations.

Many thanks Graham

I also use Currency fair and happy with their service . moorwand are a specialist money transfer company and are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority . Like yourself I know little about them but are comfortable that they are regulated . I am due to make two transfers in April and will give feedback on here .

I used to use Currency Fair, but had some restrictions on my last prop purchase, so used Global Reach, now Corpay FX, found them to be brilliant, very efficient, competitive rates, professional, with personal dealer contact.

Thanks for your replies. Hopefully there will be feedback on line over the next week or two as to how the new CurrencyFair- Moorwand partnership performs.

I tried to make a transfer with currency fair but unfortunately I was unable to make the payment to them as my bank said the details had changed . I spoke to CurrencyFair and they were not helpful . I decided to open an account with Spartan-fx and within 8 hours opened an account and I actually was phoned by a real person . Like opening any account these days it requires a lot of detail but was able to complete it online without too much trouble . I sent the funds to them this morning and they have already arrived in my bank of Cyprus account . As this was my first transfer they phoned me to check my Cyprus bank account details which I had already sent them but they wanted to confirm them . All in all excellent service and the fact my funds were in my Cyprus account within 4 hours was very satisfying . Thank you for the recommendation.

I'm UK based and have 3 bank accounts with Starling
One business, one sterling (private) and one Euro (private)

I can transfer from sterling to Euro using the rate of the day and then send my euros to my B of C account without any additional fees
