BUSES NOT RUNNING TODAY

In case people had not heard, there are no OSYPA buses running today

Apparently this is due to a "technical" issue and is trying to be resolved, but it could possibly take a couple of days. There are mini buses running but the chances are they are going to be rammed full.....
Here is their announcement below:

We inform you that due to a decision of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, all buses with more than 22 seats from tomorrow, Monday 04/12/2023, will stop and will not perform the Public Passenger Transport service, including school routes. Although the Company disagrees with the decision of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Work, the decision must be enforced. Unfortunately, due to the very limited capacity of minibuses, most routes in Pafos District, including student ones, will not be carried out. The Company will make more announcements tomorrow about the routes that can be served per day until the installation of the systems. Our Company makes every effort to find and install the requested equipment as soon as possible. We apologise for the inconvenience. We will keep you updated.

Chaos ensued today in schools following the decision by the Ministry of Transport to temporarily suspend school buses for inspections of their mechanical condition, especially after the recent incident where a vehicle carrying children caught fire.

According to Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades, not only students but also workers in Paphos and intercity routes have been impacted.
The Minister explained that companies have accepted the decision to withdraw all buses that do not have an automatic fire extinguishing system.

OSYPA website says all services normal as from Saturday 9th. I don’t fly out for another 10 days, but good to know.
