Polemi Tulip Festival

Post by Dominic »

Today was the day of the Polemi Tulip Festival. In fact, judging be the tramp of people walking past our villa at the moment, it is still going on. So how did it go, and did the tulips deliver?

Nice blog as usual with very good photos. The sweet " pompes " at page 4 is a Turkish dessert which you eat cold. It is the plural of the Greek word pomba which means actually pump. It is a fried batter, soaked in sweet syrup, often with rose water. (then I don't like it)

We went to the Tulip Festival and the dancing was amazing. Lovely tulips what we did see but not that many. It was so nice to see so many people and families there.
We finished with a lovely Souvla lunch at The Olive Tree.

We were rather disapointed that there were not many tulips. Obviously the weather dictates when they appear, so we may go back again in a week or so.

What are the blossoms near the concentration camp just after you turn off the B7 towards Polemi? Cherry? To my eye, they're far more impressive than the tulips.
