Next up for Road Works: Butcher Boy Road

Post by Dominic »

The following was posted on the Pafos Municipality Facebook Page.

P. M. E. R. I. P. S. P. S
We wish to inform the public that on Monday, January 23, 2023, construction work to improve Eleftherios Venizelos Avenue is expected to begin.
The project includes the execution of demolition work of existing sidewalks, earthwork, paving sidewalks and creation of paradigm parking spaces, as well as construction of a roundabout on the contribution of the Avenue with Nikos Nikolaidis Avenue.
The road affected by the execution of the work is Eleftheriou Venizelou Avenue as well as all its progeny from its contribution to Tasos Papadopoulos Avenue, to its contribution with Nikos Nikolaidis.
The works will be partially carried out, starting with the contribution of the Avenue with Agios Spyridonos Street (Provincial Office of the Department of Labor). Safe pedestrian access of affected residents and visitors will be ensured to residences and other businesses throughout the course of work. Traffic will be done in one lane, while detour roads for the downtown traffic will be secured in a direction that will be properly marked.
The Avenue will remain open to traffic in both streams where no construction work will be carried out.
With the progress of the work and always in time there will be new detailed information with all the necessary information for the remaining phases of the project.
On this occasion, we would like to apologize in advance for any inconvenience that may be caused during the project.
But remember that the suffering will be forgotten but the work will remain.

I love this: "But remember that the suffering will be forgotten but the work will remain."
There's something poetic about these kinds of translations.

There are a lot of busy places and firms on that road. Including St Georges Hospital.

Yes, I have to go to St George’s myself this week.
I wish they would finish at least Ellados Ave as the roads around there are already very congested.
The road they are about to dig up in already v busy with diverted traffic. There is also a school in this new road, the resulting chaos will be a problem as so few roads in the old town area are fully open.
