We live in Argaka and are familiar with all the restaurants mentioned. Prices have risen dramatically here (as they must be all over the island). The Halfway House is good quality with a somewhat limited menu, and Vass and Julie are delightful hosts. We have not been to the Fly Again for years ever since the owner told us how he despised the English and would make his money from tourists. The Tipsy Turtle is a typical English bar, with large portions of fairly good food but very English. The Santa Barbara has excellent food but it has priced itself out of the market as far as we are concerned. Hope this helps.

Yes it does help Mac. Tomorrow is the last day for me with our family from the UK and I just wanted a medium-priced lunch by the seaside..

Maybe I will go back to Latchi Harbourside?

I found Fly Again to be expensive for the quality of food served.

We live in Polis and have tried all the above mentioned restaurants. Agree 100% with all the comments. Like others we also will not be going to the Fly Again for a meal. What ever choice you make Trev enjoy.

Hi Trev,

We are on day 4 of a months’ stay in sunny Cyprus and have eaten at both the Fly Again and Santa Barbara since arriving.

Certainly Santa Barbara would get our vote out of the two in terms of both quality and pricing. Sieftalia for me at €12 was particularly good and the other half enjoyed her chicken dish at €15. Not having been over in the past couple of years for obvious reasons, I didn’t think the prices were that bad given how prices have gone up for just about everything everywhere. Staff very attentive too.

We drove past the SB early on Thursday evening (having eaten there on Wednesday evening), and it looked very busy indeed so they must be doing something right and the cars in the car park weren’t all red plates.

Hope this helps as both visits were in the past few days and are therefore based on current form.

Didn't realize Paphos was the Mayfair of Cyprus, 12e for sheftalia, over here in Larnaca, you will pay half that for a sit down shaftalia plate

Coastal restaurants, bar, taverna tend to be more expensive than inland areas due to their location.

Larnaca is on the coast, in fact I can stretch out and put my toes in the water while I eat my sheftalia

Property seems a lot cheaper in larnaca district also, we thought about moving there but we like rolling hills as opposed to flat featureless landscape

Horses for courses, Larnaca town property prices are no cheaper then Paphos, Larnaca in recent years, has seen a major building boom, with many high end apartments being build, hotels, shopping malls etc, agree the Paphos landscape is more picturesque , but the beaches over this side are miles better then what Paphos has to offer.
