VIRUS PROTECTION

Post by jen »

Looking for some recommendations.

I have Kaspersky on my laptop, but have always had the Malwarebytes free edition as well. Recently it updated to edition 3.0.6 and it looks nothing like the previous edition.

Has anyone else found this too, and can someone recommend another virus protection which is free.

Kaspersky AV is the best out there, of course it's not free but the €20 a year for two PCs is good value, although be warned removing this AV from your system can be awkward as it removes drivers you would normally need..

I use kaspersky too. No av product is completely infallible though. There is a very nasty bit of code out there that none of them can detect. You know when you are infected because browsers behave ever so slightly differently. And Google doesn't function quite right.

What it does is install a proxy which replaces ads with their own ads, amongst other things. The only way to fix it was to hack the registry in safe mode, but it is extremely persistent.
