They were at it from dawn till dusk, and I believe the area near our house is a no hunting area, yet on several occasions had pellets hitting the roof of our house.

We have had pellets hit our metal carport roof. Admittedly we are in the country, but we are in a no-hunting area. :-(
They (the hunters) really don't care, and I don't want to make enemies of them because I don't want reprisals.

No we are out in the sticks. The house is on a ridge overlooking a valley, the end of the garden is a cliff of maybe 25 metres in height, sometimes the hunters are at the bottom firing up at birds, the pellets arc over and hit the roof when descending

Uncle D, we had the same situation when we rented a house which was close to the edge of a ravine. We were awoken to hear gun fire at close quarters. We could hear the sound of shotgun pellets hitting the clay tiled roof of our bungalow. In a lull between shooting my husband peered over our garden railings into the ravine below. He saw a man with a shot gun (aka hunting rifle) its double barrel pointing up wards and he would have been shot had the man fired it.
My husband complained initially to Leptos, but subsequently we were given the numbers to ring to complain direct to the Game Service. Unfortunately, I'm in the UK at present and don't have access to their phone numbers.
There were also other people close by who had had similar experiences and a very strong objection was lodged with the hunters association. Thus new notices were subsequently issued to warn hunters that this was a no hunting area.
If you get bothered again, try to get the license plate number/s of any cars or pick up trucks close by with dog cages on their flat beds. Report the incident plus suspicious car numbers to the police.

Thanks my neighbour who has lived in the area for 19 years has tried everything, the laws are not enforced vigorously enough because they dont have enough staff to cover all areas.
