The road from the Mall to the Harbour is now open both ways. Seems it has been closed for a long time for very little result.

Drove up this road yesterday. Still a raised tiled area. But the tiles are much bigger. Wonder how long they will last? Tarmac surely would have been so much smoother and last much longer.

I'm just glad it's finally open. It's been a bit of a pain taking the detour. Still, worse things in life!

It is not a stupid question at all.. I assumed it was to denote the entrance to a special area. But really it is a needless expense

I have been there today. Not open all the way down, diversion again, but coming back it is open all the way to the mall. There is still a section at the very bottom about 5 meters or so, that is still being worked on.

yes but you have to come in from the other side. Who knows though? It could change day to day.

I realise this is a silly question ! But why is there a tiled raised section ?

I think to act as traffic calming for what will be the area where the access to the raised walkway will be - in anticipation of a fair amount of people using it when completed I guess.

Far better to have used tarmac for the raised section as has been done in many other areas.
