Barracuda time again...

Post by cyprusmax47 »

I was very glad that I arrived yesterday lunchtime very early. One could say "the early bird gets the worm" when I was able to order Barracuda for my lunch. It was the first time this year as the season just started for that type of fish. It was just delivered minutes before I arrived.

I could choose between the two of them, so I ordered the bigger one (Pig !)

As the size of the fish was quite big I ordered only village salad, bread and wine

I like the way they do the salad with a lot of coriander, celery, mixed green, tomato, feta, and for me extra garlic.

after I finished the salad with some bread, 15 minutes later the main dish arrived and I put a lot of sea salt on top

quite dangerous looking :)

I managed to eat all of that food and enjoyed it a lot. There was only space for a Greek coffee, no sweet... and a bit of relaxing time to look down to the beach which is looking better after they removed 3 days long most of the sea weed.

Hang on...

If the fish had been smaller, what else would you have ordered? Or do you mean you didn't have a starter?

Well, if the size of the fish is smaller, (not like this Barracuda with >450 gr.) led say normally around 300 gr, I order some tahini to tip my bread into it, and "Tsakistes" (green crashed olives with garlic and coriander seeds) which also go nicely with bread and salad, before the main dish comes...

I won't tell prices on here. Fish is very expensive to buy in Cyprus, except bred from the fish farms like Zipourra or Lavraki. As I only go out for a meal once a week to eat fish, I don't look at the bill, knowing that they never pull me over the barrel. Perhaps I get a special discount as I am a regular since more than 10 years and sometimes the drink is on the house. Much more important for me is the fact that they reserve the very fresh fish, just brought in from the fishermen, for me. Further the village salad I get is much larger in size than normal for one person and is without cabbage but instead with a lot of garlic and unusual salad herbs and greens. ( called Max's salad)
